The City of Chelsea provides a comprehensive and competitive benefits package to ensure that its employees are happy, healthy, and prepared for life changes and challenges.
Open Enrollment period will begin Monday, April 4, 2022 through Friday, April 29, 2022. This is your opportunity to enroll in the City’s benefits or to make changes to your existing plan. All changes made by employees during Open Enrollment will take effect July 1, 2022 and will be effective through June 30, 2022.
Important: Once Open Enrollment ends, you must wait until next year’s Open Enrollment or experience a qualifying event to make changes. Please keep in mind, if you have a qualifying event you must notify the Human Resources Department and submit all required documentation within 30 days of the qualifying event date. A qualifying event includes but is not limited to:

- Change in marital status
- Loss of dependent status
- Birth, adoption or legal guardianship
- Change in employment status that affects employee's benefits
- Medical insurance through Harvard Pilgrim Health Care
- Dental coverage through Altus Dental and DMS
- Supplemental Benefits through Colonial Life
- Group and voluntary life insurance through Boston Mutual
- Deferred compensation through VOYA and The Smart Plan
- Employee assistance through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provided by ESI Group
- New vision plan through EyeMed Vision
