We know the Apollinaire as our award-winning, cutting edge, local theater in one of Chelsea's most historic buildings. But rather than remaining one of Chelsea's hidden gems, Apollinaire is thinking big. Construction is under way to establish the Apollinaire as a theater hub for smaller theater companies throughout the region by building a black box theater, a rehearsal room, a costume shop, and set shop to be rented out to small theater companies struggling to find places to rehearse, perform, create sets, and design costumes.  There will also be a new Youth Theatre which will not be available for rent, but will remain Apollinaire's own.

The $1 million project, which the Boston Globe calls "unprecedented", was able to get under way with a $250,000 grant from MassDevelopment as part of its Transformational Development Initiative (TDI) Coworking Program and $110,000 plus project management services from the City of Chelsea.  The City's investment in the project reflects its ongoing efforts to have Chelsea Square designated as a Massachusetts Cultural District.
